Tension/Trauma Release Exercise (TRE) are easily learned, immediately effective and self empowering. The TRE process consists of a series of seven simple exercises to initiate the body’s innate tremor (shaking) mechanism, called Neurogenic Tremors, to release stress, tension and trauma from the body itself without the need to talk about or remember specific events. The uniqueness of this technique is that this shaking originates deep in the core of the body and the gentle tremors reverberate outwards along the spine releasing tension from the sacrum to the cranium.
David Berceli is the creator of the revolutionary and unique set of Trauma Releasing Exercises and an international expert in the areas of trauma intervention and conflict resolution. For the past 22 years he has lived and worked in nine countries providing trauma relief workshops and designing recovery programs for international organizations around the world. David brings a keen understanding of the intertwining dynamics of religion and ethnic customs and has developed specific processes to enable people to manage personal trauma as well as bring healing and reconciliation between diverse groups. David continues to be involved in trauma recovery programs to help reducing the suffering caused by trauma but also because he recognizes globally that trauma possesses unique possibilities of transformation in the individual if they pursue their recovery process to its ultimate end.
There is a place where we know we are fully alive, open to all of our feelings and connected to ourselves and the ground. Working with the body and the mind to find new ways of being can bring new vitality and awareness and can lead to increased pleasure and joy in living. When we discover the old patterns and contractions in our bodies, we can begin to discover the nature of our character armor—the chronic muscular shapes and tensions of the body – which are largely unconscious.
Dr. Alexander Lowen, founder of Bioenergetics, writes in his book Bioenergetics, “Bioenergetics rests on the simple proposition that each person is his body. No person exists apart from the living body in which he has existence and through which he expresses himself and relates to the world around him. If you are your body and your body is you then it expresses who you are. It is your way of being in the world. The more alive your body is, the more you are in the world. When a body loses some of its aliveness, as when you are exhausted, for example, you tend to withdraw. Illness has the same effect, producing a state of withdrawal. You may even sense the world at a distance or see it as through a haze. On the other hand, there are days when you are radiantly alive and the world about you seems brighter, closer, more real. We all would like to be and feel more alive, and bioenergetics can help us toward the achievement of this goal.”
Bioenergetics focuses on finding those sensations and feelings that have been held inside (often beyond our conscious awareness); allowing the body to regain its natural aliveness and vitality and expanding our ability to see, hear, sense and feel.
